Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and LoopLingua LLC ("LoopLingua", "we", "us", "our"). They cover how you can use the service, how plans and billing work, and what each of us is responsible for. We've kept them in plain language. By creating an account or using looplingua.com (the "Service"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
These terms work alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect and how we handle it.
1. Who can use LoopLingua
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EU) to use the Service. LoopLingua isn't directed to children under those ages, and we don't knowingly allow them to create accounts. If you're using LoopLingua on behalf of an organization, you're agreeing to these terms on its behalf.
2. Your account
Accounts are handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything that happens under your account. Give us accurate information, and email hello@looplingua.com if you think someone else has accessed it. One account is for one person. Don't share credentials.
3. Plans, billing, and cancellation
LoopLingua offers a free tier and paid plans (Looper and Pro). Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly, depending on the plan you choose) and renew automatically until you cancel.
- Cancelling. You can cancel anytime from your account settings. Your paid features stay active through the end of the period you've already paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- Refunds. Payments are generally non-refundable except where required by law. If something went wrong, email us. We're reasonable.
- Price changes. We may change plan prices. If a change affects your plan, we'll tell you in advance, and it takes effect on your next renewal, never mid-cycle.
- Taxes. Prices may not include taxes, which we'll add where required.
Each plan includes usage limits (see the Fair use section below). Your monthly generation allowance is the advertised limit for your plan.
4. The free tool
You can try LoopLingua without an account through our free tool. To keep it available and affordable for everyone, free use is rate-limited and protected by bot checks (Cloudflare Turnstile). We may adjust or withdraw the free tool at any time.
5. Acceptable use
Use LoopLingua for its purpose: language learning. You agree not to:
- Use the Service for anything unlawful, or to generate content that's illegal, hateful, or infringes someone else's rights;
- Submit text you don't have the right to use;
- Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, its infrastructure, or other users' accounts;
- Reverse engineer or probe the Service except as allowed by law.
6. Fair use
LoopLingua is built for personal language study. Usage limits on each plan exist to keep the service fast and affordable for everyone. You agree not to:
- (a) use scripts, bots, or automated tools to generate audio;
- (b) bulk-extract, scrape, or systematically download generated audio for use outside your own study;
- (c) resell, redistribute, or provide third parties access to audio generated by the Service; or
- (d) use the Service as a general-purpose text-to-speech API.
We may throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts engaged in these behaviors. Where practical, we'll contact you first. If you're a genuinely heavy studier, you have nothing to worry about.
To be clear, this doesn't restrict what LoopLingua is built to do: the built-in Anki and Quizlet export, and keeping generated audio for your own offline study, are features of your plan. The restriction in (c) is about redistributing audio to other people, not your own use.
7. Your content and generated audio
Your input stays yours. The phrases and text you enter belong to you. You grant LoopLingua the license needed to run the Service on that text: to translate it, synthesize audio, and store your phrases and Looplists so you can come back to them. We describe exactly who processes this data in the Privacy Policy.
The audio we generate is licensed to you for your personal language study, including offline use and the built-in exports. You're responsible for the text you submit and for how you use what you create.
8. Our intellectual property
The Service itself (the software, design, the LoopLingua name and logo, and the site) belongs to LoopLingua LLC. These terms don't give you any rights to those beyond using the Service as intended.
9. Translations and third-party services
LoopLingua relies on third parties to work: OpenAI (translation), Google Cloud Text-to-Speech (audio), Stripe (payments), Clerk (accounts), and others listed in our Privacy Policy. Your use of the Service is also subject to their terms where they apply.
Translations and audio are machine-generated and can contain errors, awkward phrasing, or inaccuracies. LoopLingua is a study aid, not a substitute for a professional translator, and you shouldn't rely on it for anything where accuracy is critical.
10. Disclaimers
The Service and everything it generates are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated content will be accurate or fit for a particular purpose.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LoopLingua LLC and its operators won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim.
12. Suspension and termination
You can stop using LoopLingua and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, including the fair-use and acceptable-use sections, or to protect the Service or other users. Where practical, we'll reach out first. When an account ends, our handling of your data follows the Privacy Policy.
13. Changes
We may update the Service and these terms over time. When we make a material change to these terms, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, give signed-in users notice by email or in the app. Continuing to use LoopLingua after a change means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Arizona.
